Rundown
KRAK 11 NEWS
Good morning. This is KRAK 11 News at three o'clock in the morning, and we have the rundown.
We begin with THE WORLD DESK, where the United States has called its latest round of sanctions on Iran an economic D-Day. Tehran says it has a plan.
Then CRIMINAL INTENT, where we bring you a Florida Man Tribute from back in January of last year — a fireball that lit up the entire Midwest sky at once.
ANIMALS this morning, where the heron video that has led our countdown for twelve hours straight just crossed eight million seven hundred thousand new views.
That is a lot of heron.
It is. And we close with A QUICK LOOK AT SPORTS, where a British aerospace firm has agreed to pay one hundred million dollars to fifty thousand Californians.
That is not sports.
It is in the sports wire.
Still ahead this morning on THE WORLD DESK — what Iran says it will do next, and why the White House is calling this economic D-Day. KRAK 11 News continues in a moment.
THE WORLD DESK
Good morning. This is KRAK 11 News. It is three o'clock.
And we are back with what is happening around the world this morning.
Which is quite a lot.
It is always quite a lot at three in the morning, Chip.
We begin with an update from Iran, where officials say they have a strategy in place to address what the United States is calling economic D-Day.
The Treasury Department announced sanctions last week that would cut Iran off from the global economy entirely.
Tehran's foreign ministry says the country is what they call fully prepared to counter the measures, though they have not detailed what that preparation involves.
The sanctions also apply to any country that continues financial partnerships with Iran.
That is correct. It is the broadest financial sanction the U.S. has ever imposed.
Nevada is dealing with a wildfire near Reno that has now injured seven firefighters and burned fifteen thousand acres.
Officials say the fire is still not contained and thousands of residents have been evacuated from the area.
Crews are working around the clock. The fire is moving fast and conditions have been extremely dry.
We will keep you updated as more information comes in from fire command.
And in Paris, a group of current and former professional soccer players have united against FIFA president Gianni Infantino.
Gianni is the head of the International Federation of Association Football.
Which is soccer.
They have issued a statement saying that change is necessary at the global governing body. The group includes players from England, Spain, France and Germany.
All four of which are countries.
In Western Europe.
I know where Western Europe is.
You thought Death Valley was in Nevada.
I was testing you.
The complaint centers on the increased workload caused by an expanded international match calendar. FIFA has not yet responded to the statement.

Still ahead this morning on KRAK 11 News, we have new crime reporting for Wexler County.
A county commissioner is facing questions about a contract awarded to his brother-in-law. We have the details from the courthouse.
That is Criminal Intent, coming up in just a few minutes.
We will be right back.
CRIMINAL INTENT
Good morning. Time for the KRAK 11 Blotter.
Four Florida Man Tributes tonight, and the first one involves swimming goggles.
As a disguise.
As a disguise.
Back in September of last year, a masked man walked into Paddlefish restaurant at Disney Springs wearing swimming goggles and nothing else on his face. Orange County deputies say the suspect demanded cash from the register, got it, and left on foot.
Deputies say he demanded cash.
They do. The goggles were the kind you wear in a pool. The investigation continues and the suspect has not been located.
Back in August of last year, a North Carolina elections official was arrested after prosecutors allege he spiked his grandchildren's ice cream with illegal drugs. The official resigned this week following the charges.
Prosecutors allege that.
They do. The children were not seriously harmed.
Back in September of last year, two Los Angeles Fire Department ambulances were involved in back-to-back crashes at the same intersection in the San Fernando Valley. Officials say the first ambulance was struck by another vehicle, then a second ambulance responding to that crash was also hit.
The same intersection.
Officials say no serious injuries were reported.
And back in January of last year, a bright fireball lit up the night sky across several Midwestern states. Satellite footage captured the entire event as it streaked across Illinois, Wisconsin, and Indiana.
That one was not a crime.
It was spectacular.
We have now aired two hundred and seven Florida Man Tributes in forty-four weeks.
Still ahead this morning - the animal countdown. The heron is still leading, but the numbers behind it are getting very interesting.
They are. ANIMALS is next.
ANIMALS
Time now for Animals.
The KRAK 11 animal countdown ranks videos by how many views they have gained, not how many they have in total.
We count three, then two, then one.
At number three this hour, a hundred and twenty pounds of dog hiding from ice behind a two-year-old. Posted by Tiny Boss Big Dog. Four million new views in the last four days.
It is a very large dog.
And a very small child.
At number two, When Kindness Goes Both Ways. Posted by Windypaws. Seven million eight hundred and thirteen thousand new views in four days. That is unchanged since the last count.
And at number one, for the twelfth consecutive hour, Fisherman Found This Heron Fighting For Its Life. Posted by Sassy. Eight million seven hundred and ninety-four thousand new views in the last four days.
Twelve hours.
People care about herons.

A quick look at sports is next.
A QUICK LOOK AT SPORTS
A quick look at sports.
