I'm Deb Sarkissian. Coming up this hour: The World Desk — ninety thousand people ordered out of their homes as a wildfire closes in on Reno, Nevada.

A seventeen-foot pigeon.

Still ahead this morning on The World Desk — the wildfire that has consumed more than ten thousand acres and is still completely uncontained. We will have the latest from Reno.
Stay with us.
THE WORLD DESK
Good morning. You are watching KRAK 11 News.
I brought you tea.
You did not bring me tea.
I thought about bringing you tea.
We are going to the United Kingdom this morning, where the defence minister is calling on social media companies to remove videos showing dangerous driving.
Defence Minister Luke Pollard says there is no place for a trend showing people driving the wrong way down roads. He is asking platforms to take those videos down.
The trend started on TikTok and spread to other platforms. The minister says the companies have a responsibility to remove content that puts people at risk.
That is the Thames Valley region.
It is the entire United Kingdom.
Which is in the Thames Valley.
The Thames Valley is a region within England. England is one of four countries in the United Kingdom. The minister's statement applies to all of them.
That is what I said.
From Norway this morning, the palace says King Harald's health has worsened.
He is eighty-eight years old and is being treated in hospital for a bacterial infection in his bloodstream. He remains on antibiotics.
He has been king since nineteen ninety-one.
Thirty-four years. The palace released the update this morning. We will follow that story.
And sad news from Britain this morning. Jo Gardiner, who appeared on the BBC program Race Across the World, has died at the age of sixty-one.
She died of cancer. Her son Kelly died in a traffic collision one year ago.
She competed in the show's fourth series alongside her son Elliot. The BBC released a statement calling her an unforgettable part of the program.
She was sixty-one.
That is the news from the World Desk.

Still ahead this morning, Criminal Intent is coming your way, and Deb has a story from Ohio involving a convenience store, a pair of handcuffs, and a question nobody at the sheriff's office wanted to answer.
The question was, quote, whose handcuffs.
That is Criminal Intent, in a few minutes on KRAK 11 News.
CRIMINAL INTENT
Good morning. This is Criminal Intent, the KRAK 11 Blotter.
We begin this morning with the one hundred and seventieth installment of the KRAK 11 Florida Man Tribute — a series we have been running for forty-three weeks now.
The archive is refreshed weekly.
It is.
Back in December of twenty twenty-four, a Florida man pulled out a Molotov cocktail and a sword after someone disrespected a family member.
Police say he was trying to make a point.
He made the point. Authorities took him into custody.
Also in December of twenty twenty-four — a fired Florida man stole a hundred thousand dollars in tools from his former co-workers, blaming them for getting him terminated.
Deputies say he was caught because he stole a set of AirPods along with the tools.
The AirPods were trackable. The investigation led directly to him.
In January of last year, a Florida man with the word 'Alone' tattooed across his face was arrested in Polk County after what the sheriff called a one-man crime wave.
He celebrated his twenty-fourth birthday behind bars.
Not alone.
And back in March of this year, New York City said goodbye to Dinosaur — a seventeen-foot-tall aluminum pigeon that had stood on the High Line for years.
The statue was removed at the beginning of April to make way for a new art installation.
The city threw a goodbye party. Hundreds of people attended.
For a pigeon.
A very large pigeon.

Still to come this morning: A Quick Look at Sports. Pete Crow-Armstrong is still doing something that no one has done in the history of professional baseball.
Fifty-five consecutive games.
We will explain how that is possible in just a few minutes.
A QUICK LOOK AT SPORTS
A quick look at sports.
We have got a world champion, a streak that will not stop, and a very good way to leave the sport.
You love a farewell race.
Magnus Carlsen defended his classical world chess title in Dubai this morning, defeating Hikaru Nakamura three and a half to two and a half in the final.
Pete Crow-Armstrong extended his walk-off RBI streak to fifty-six consecutive games last night as the Cubs beat the White Sox four to three in the tenth.
Ohio State is ranked number four in Yahoo Sports' preseason college football top twenty-five.
And Valentino Rossi won his farewell race at Mugello yesterday.
That is a good way to leave.
Still ahead this morning - the next KRAK 11 News, at the top of the hour. We will have more on the Reno wildfire and the evacuation order affecting nearly ninety thousand people.
