KRAK 11 NEWS

Coming up this morning: The World Desk, where a fast-fashion giant is going public in Hong Kong and the price tag is twenty-seven billion dollars.
Criminal Intent, where a Bud Light truck, a two-county chase, and a sheriff's patrol car all meet in the same place at the same time back in April. That is Florida Man Tribute one hundred and sixty-seven.
Animals, where a video that has been number one on our countdown for an entire day still does not have a named animal in it.
And A Quick Look at Sports, where ninety thousand people in Reno, Nevada are being told to leave their homes because of a wildfire authorities say was caused by a person.
Still ahead on The World Desk: Shein sets a date, a price, and a city for the biggest fashion company stock debut in years. That is coming up in a few minutes.
KRAK 11 News continues.
THE WORLD DESK
Good morning, Wexler County. Welcome back to KRAK 11 News. This is The World Desk.
We have four stories from overseas this morning, and one of them involves a ball that sold for more money than I will ever see.
I have seen the photographs. It is a nice ball.
It is a two and a half million pound ball.
We begin with an update on the China cabbage investigation we told you about an hour ago. The probe has now expanded to include sixteen provinces and involves more than forty food distributors.
Chinese authorities say they found formaldehyde in samples taken from warehouses in three major agricultural regions. Nine distributors have been ordered to suspend operations while testing continues.
That is a large agricultural country.
China produces more cabbages than any other country in the world, Chip. About half of the global supply.
Which is why this matters.
It is.
From the world of sport, the Diego Maradona Hand of God ball has now been authenticated by three independent laboratories. The auction house released the certification this morning.
The ball sold for two and a half million pounds last week. The buyer's identity has not been disclosed, but the auction house says the ball will be loaned to a museum.
That was the nineteen eighty-six World Cup quarter-final. England versus Argentina.
In Mexico City.
South America.
North America.
I was close.
You were not.
From Britain, an update on the business rates review. The government says it will announce proposed changes by the end of September, with implementation targeted for April of next year.
The review covers how rates are calculated for pubs, hotels and restaurants in England and Wales. Industry groups have been calling for reform for more than a decade.
That is a tax system.
It is a property tax based on the rental value of commercial premises. Pubs and hotels say the current system overtaxes them relative to online competitors.
Which is a reasonable complaint.
It is why they have been asking for ten years.
From Australia, the shark attack survivor we told you about earlier says she has returned to the water. Leah Stewart was released from hospital last week after two months of treatment.
Stewart told reporters she went into the ocean at a supervised beach near her home on Saturday. She says she considers what happened a second chance at life and she does not intend to give up swimming.
That is courage.
It is.
If you are watching this morning on YouTube, we are glad you are here. Subscribing costs you nothing and it helps a station our size keep the lights on.
We mean that. Every one of them matters.
Still ahead this morning, Criminal Intent. A Pennsylvania man has been arrested after police say he was found with a casket in his garage and no good explanation for how it got there.
The casket was not empty.
That is next on KRAK 11 News.
CRIMINAL INTENT
Good morning. You are watching KRAK 11 News.
We have four stories from around the country this morning. Two of them involve vehicles that should not have been driven.
One of them is a twenty-six-foot peanut.
That one was supposed to be driven.
Back in April of this year, a man in Evansville, Indiana, led police on a two-county chase in a stolen vehicle. The vehicle in question was a Bud Light delivery truck.
Police say the chase ended when the suspect crashed the truck into a Vanderburgh County sheriff's patrol car.
The entire incident was captured on dashcam. The suspect is in custody. The beer appears to have survived intact.
KRAK 11 has now aired one hundred and sixty-eight Florida Man Tributes in forty-three weeks.
Also in April, residents of San Francisco's SOMA neighborhood reported seeing the head of Elon Musk wandering the streets. They were not imagining it.
The head was a large art installation on wheels. Multiple witnesses reported it moving through traffic unattended.
No permit had been filed. The artist has not come forward. If you are watching on YouTube and this is the strangest hour you have watched, do subscribe. It helps a station our size.
In Missouri, police say they discovered fentanyl hidden inside children's Barbie dolls at a discount store during a routine inspection.
Prosecutors say four people have been charged in connection with the seizure. The investigation is ongoing.
A college soccer player in Ohio was allegedly killed by her boyfriend, who told investigators a demon instructed him to stab her. His mother is accused of helping conceal evidence.
Both have been charged. Both have entered not guilty pleas. We will not speculate further until the court proceedings are complete.
Back in January of this year, Planters announced it was hiring drivers for the NUTmobile. That is the official name.
The job involves driving a twenty-six-foot peanut on wheels to festivals, parades and college campuses across the country. Applicants are called Peanutters.
The company provided no update on how many people applied or whether the positions have been filled.
I would have applied.
You have a job.
I can do both.
Still ahead this morning - ANIMALS. A heron, a seal, and something involving kindness that has now been watched more than six and a half million times this week.
We will be right back.
ANIMALS
Time now for Animals.
This is the KRAK 11 animal countdown. We rank by views gained, not total views, and we count down from three.
Number one has been number one for twenty-five hours now.
It has.

Unchanged since the last count.

Twenty-five hours at the top.
It is a very good video.
All three are on the KRAK 11 News Reel. The link is in the description.
Coming up this morning, a quick look at sports. Pete Crow-Armstrong is still doing things nobody has explained to me yet.
Fifty-four games.
That is right after this.
A QUICK LOOK AT SPORTS
A quick look at sports.
Four results from this morning and a farewell race.
One of them is fifty-five games long.
Magnus Carlsen successfully defended his classical world chess title this morning in Dubai, defeating challenger Hikaru Nakamura in a best-of-fourteen match that went to the final game.
Pete Crow-Armstrong extended his walk-off RBI streak to fifty-five consecutive games last night as the Cubs beat the White Sox in the bottom of the ninth, three to two.
Fifty-five games in a row.
Valentino Rossi won his farewell race at Mugello yesterday, taking the Italian MotoGP by four-tenths of a second over Marc Márquez.
And number four Ohio State opens their season Saturday against Indiana. Coming up at the top of the hour, we will have the latest on that fast-moving wildfire near Reno that has displaced ninety thousand people overnight.
That is the next KRAK 11 News, at the top of the hour. Thank you for being here.
