KRAK 11 NEWS
Good morning, Wexler County. This is KRAK 11 News at oh-one-hundred hours. I am Chip Marlowe.
And I am Deb Sarkissian. This hour on KRAK 11: The World Desk, where a Chinese fashion company is asking investors for twenty-seven billion dollars.
Criminal Intent, and our one hundred and sixty-first Florida Man Tribute. Back in February of this year, a president ordered the release of every alien file the government has.
Animals. The video at number one on our countdown has now led for twenty-two hours, and it has gained more than six and a half million new views in four days.
And A Quick Look at Sports, where ninety thousand people have been told to leave a city in Nevada because of a wildfire.
That is not sports.
It is the story we have. The World Desk is next.
THE WORLD DESK
Good morning, Wexler County. I'm Chip Marlowe.
And I'm Deb Sarkissian. It is one in the morning, and we have the world.
You have been reading about Hong Kong.
I have been reading about stock prices.
We have new details on that Shein public offering we covered earlier. The company has now disclosed its target valuation for the Hong Kong debut.
The fast-fashion retailer is aiming for a valuation of twenty-seven billion dollars when shares begin trading September first.
That is down from the company's original target of forty billion. Market analysts say investor appetite for fashion stocks has cooled since Shein first filed with regulators.
This is still one of Hong Kong's largest public offerings this year.
It is. Trading begins next Monday morning, Hong Kong time.
From Pakistan, a group of former cricket captains are calling for proper medical care for the jailed former prime minister Imran Khan.
Khan was prime minister until he was removed in a no-confidence vote in twenty twenty-two. He has been in custody since August of twenty twenty-three.
Before his political career, Khan captained Pakistan's national cricket team. A court ordered a full medical assessment earlier this month. The former captains say that assessment has not been carried out.
They are asking the government for what they call basic decency and compliance with the court order.
The Pakistani government has not responded publicly to the request.
The BBC has gained access to senior Taliban officials in Afghanistan. Reporters spent time with the group as it reshapes the country five years after returning to power.
The reporting examines three areas: changes to divorce law, new smartphone regulations, and the government's expanding control over daily life.
That is rare access. The Taliban typically does not allow Western journalists to operate freely inside the country.
It is. The full report is available now on the BBC website.
You have been reading about divorce law in Kabul.
I have been reading about a great many things in Kabul.
I was reading about smartphones.
I saw that.
From the United Kingdom, photographs of two police officers killed in a Saturday morning crash lead several front pages this morning.
The Times, the Telegraph and the Daily Mail all carry the story on page one. The Times describes the loss as pain beyond words.
The Guardian leads with a different story. They report that university graduates are facing the worst job market in years.
The Financial Times also covers the employment figures, citing a sharp drop in graduate hiring across several sectors.
If you are watching on YouTube, we would be glad if you subscribed. It helps a station our size more than you might think.
Still ahead this morning, CRIMINAL INTENT. A story about cake, a burglar, and the moment the district attorney's office decided enough was enough.
The cake was worth twelve dollars.
It was.
CRIMINAL INTENT. In a few minutes on KRAK eleven.
CRIMINAL INTENT
Good morning, and welcome to the KRAK 11 Blotter.
We have a presidential Florida Man Tribute this morning. One president says aliens are real on a podcast, and the other president declassifies every file the government has on the subject.
That allegedly happened.
Back in February of this year, President Trump ordered the release of government files on aliens and UFOs. He shared the news on social media after accusing his predecessor of revealing classified information.
The former president had implied aliens were real during a podcast interview. President Trump responded by ordering the declassification.
That brings our total to one hundred and sixty-two Florida Man Tributes in forty-three weeks.
In New York, a carjacking and crash led NYPD officers to six hundred pounds of marijuana. Police said the suspect crashed a stolen vehicle during pursuit.
The trunk was full of packaged cannabis. That is approximately the weight of a grand piano.
Police in Missouri discovered fentanyl hidden inside Barbie dolls sold at a discount store. Prosecutors allege the dolls were repackaged and placed back on shelves.
Authorities said they have taken several individuals into custody. The store has cooperated with the investigation.
In Massachusetts, a man driving a front-end loader led police on what they are calling a slow-speed pursuit through three townships.
Police said the suspect was traveling at approximately twelve miles per hour. Officers followed on foot for part of the pursuit.
He was eventually arrested when the loader ran out of fuel.
In California, a burglary suspect trapped inside a wall was rescued after police officers on a coffee break heard his cries for help.
Police said the suspect allegedly entered a business through the roof, fell between two walls, and became stuck. Officers heard him shouting and called the fire department.
Firefighters removed part of the wall. The suspect was treated at the scene and arrested.
Coming up this morning on KRAK 11 News: a river otter in Oregon that has become an internet sensation by stealing surfboards from beachgoers.
Animals is next.

Still ahead this morning: A Quick Look at Sports. Pete Crow-Armstrong did something tonight that has happened exactly once in the history of organized baseball.
That is next.
A QUICK LOOK AT SPORTS
A quick look at sports.
You have been looking forward to this all morning.
Preseason rankings are out. Pete made history again. It is a good morning for sports.
Ohio State opens the Yahoo Sports Preseason College Football Top 25 at number four. The Buckeyes are looking to beat Michigan and win the playoff this year.
Honda has admitted it only realized the full scale of its Formula One problems back in January. The team is facing a long road to competitiveness.
And Pete Crow-Armstrong has done it again. The Cubs walked off against the White Sox, and Pete extended his walk-off RBI streak to fifty-three consecutive games.
Fifty-three consecutive games.
The kid is unbelievable.
Still ahead this morning - the next KRAK 11 News, at the top of the hour. We will have more on that wildfire tearing through Reno, and the ninety thousand people being told to leave.
