Rundown
KRAK 11 NEWS
Good evening. This is KRAK 11 News at twenty-two hundred hours. I'm Chip Marlowe.
And I'm Deb Sarkissian. Coming up this hour on KRAK 11 News: The World Desk, where a man faces murder charges in connection with that London fire that left one dead and eight hospitalized.
Criminal Intent brings you our one hundred and fifty-fifth Florida Man Tribute — and this one happened back in July when researchers developed robotic clothing that lets you suit up hands-free in seconds.
That is not a crime.
Animals has When Kindness Goes Both Ways — still number one on our countdown after nineteen hours, and it has now gained six million three hundred and ninety-one thousand new views in four days.
And A Quick Look at Sports, where we are covering wildfires across the United Kingdom that are spreading faster, burning longer, and drawing closer to homes than ever recorded.
Still ahead tonight on KRAK 11 News — The World Desk has the latest on that arrest in the Hounslow fire, and what investigators are saying about how it started.
We start there in just a moment.
THE WORLD DESK
Good evening. This is KRAK 11 News at twenty-two hundred hours.
And we are back at the World Desk.
I have been reading about Hong Kong all afternoon.
That sounds dangerous.
We begin with commerce. The fast-fashion retailer Shein is aiming for a stock market debut worth nearly twenty-seven billion dollars.
Shares are set to begin trading on the Hong Kong stock market the first of September.
That is Hong Kong, which is just off the coast of mainland Taiwan.
Hong Kong is part of China, Chip. It is on the southern coast.
I said the southern coast.
You said Taiwan.
Near Taiwan.
The valuation places Shein among the largest fashion retailers in the world by market capitalization.
From Britain, CrossCountry rail says service has been fully restored tonight after a weekend of major disruptions across the network.
The company says restoring normal service was their key priority after twelve hours of delays and cancellations on Saturday.
That is the passenger rail system. Britain does not have freight rail the way we do.
Britain has freight rail, Chip. They have had it since eighteen twenty-five.
Not in the modern era.
They moved a hundred million tons of freight by rail last year.
I stand corrected.
Do you?
I acknowledge your numbers.
And a brief update from London. The thirty-four-year-old man arrested at the border Sunday night remains in custody tonight on suspicion of murder.
He was arrested while attempting to board a ferry to France. Eight victims remain hospitalized from the Hounslow fire.
We will continue to follow that.
From Australia, Leah Stewart says she is grateful for what she calls her second chance at life.
Stewart was attacked by a shark in June near Perth on Australia's western coast. Witnesses applied tourniquets to both legs and she has now completed her first round of surgeries.
She spoke publicly this week for the first time since the attack, saying she is expected to make a full recovery.
That is Perth, which is on the Indian Ocean side.
It is.
The Pacific is the other coast.
You got one.
I get more than one.
You got one tonight.

Still ahead tonight, CRIMINAL INTENT. A Florida man stole a police cruiser and drove it to his own sentencing hearing.
That is coming up in a few minutes on KRAK 11 News.
CRIMINAL INTENT
This is the KRAK 11 Blotter.
We have our one hundred and fifty-sixth Florida Man Tribute tonight, and this one is a collection from earlier this year.
Four stories. None of them from Florida.
The spirit transcends geography, Deb.
We begin back in July of this year, when researchers developed soft-robotic clothing that allows users to suit up hands-free in a matter of seconds.
The technology was intended for protective gear. It wraps itself around you like something out of a science fiction film.
I have never needed a robot to help me put on a jacket.
Neither have I. But someone built it anyway.
Also back in July, a World War Two era Vultee BT-13A training aircraft made an emergency landing on a highway in north Georgia after experiencing mechanical issues mid-flight.
The pilot set the seventy-nine-year-old aircraft down on State Route 53, disrupting traffic for roughly forty minutes while crews cleared the scene.
No injuries were reported. The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the mechanical failure.
The plane was en route to an air show. It did not make it.
But it made the highway, which is better than the alternative.
Back in April of this year, police in downtown Los Angeles arrested six people after an anti-ICE protest took what officials described as a bizarre turn.
Multiple protesters threw sex toys at officers during the demonstration. Police said several of the items struck officers in the face.
Prosecutors allege assault on a peace officer. Six suspects were booked and released pending charges.
And back in June of this year, police in Taylor, Michigan responded to a wellness check at a motel and found a man living with his deceased girlfriend inside the room.
Police said the woman had been deceased for several days. The man was taken into custody for a mental health evaluation.
Four stories from earlier this year. None of them ordinary.
Still ahead tonight on KRAK 11 News: the video that has now led our animal countdown for nineteen straight hours.
Six million three hundred and ninety-one thousand new views in four days. That is Animals, coming up.
ANIMALS
Time now for Animals.
The KRAK 11 animal countdown tonight, ranked by how many views a video has gained in the last four days.
Three videos. We count them down from three to one.
Number three is a video called Check for Context, posted by a channel called Benji Void. Two million eight hundred and sixty-six thousand new views.
Number two is Fisherman Found This Heron Fighting For Its Life, posted by Sassy. Three million nine hundred and fifty-five thousand new views in the same window.
And number one, unchanged for nineteen hours now, is When Kindness Goes Both Ways. Posted by Windypaws. Six million three hundred and ninety-one thousand new views in four days.
All three are posted on the KRAK 11 News Reel, and the link is in the description.
You watched number one.
I did.
And?
It is a very good video.
I know.
If you are watching on YouTube and this is the first time you have found us, a subscription costs you nothing and it helps a local station.
Still ahead tonight - a walk-off in Chicago, and the Brewers extend a record nobody thought was possible. A Quick Look at Sports in a few minutes on KRAK 11 News.
We will be right back.
A QUICK LOOK AT SPORTS
A quick look at sports.
And we start with a record that just keeps going.
Fifty-one games now.
Pete Crow-Armstrong did it again tonight. The Cubs beat the White Sox five to four on his walk-off single in the ninth. That is fifty-one consecutive games with a walk-off RBI. The record extends.
The Brewers took care of the Reds tonight, nine to two in Milwaukee. College football rankings are out and Ohio State comes in at number four in the Yahoo Sports preseason poll. The Buckeyes open camp next week with their eyes on Michigan and the playoff.
And Magnus Carlsen defended his chess title at the twenty twenty-six Esports World Cup, three games to one in the final. Still the best in the world.
Coming up at the top of the hour on KRAK 11 News - we will have the latest on the Canadian tariffs and what manufacturers are reporting at the border tonight. That is next.
Thank you for watching.
