Rundown
KRAK 11 NEWS
Good evening, Wexler County. It is the top of the hour on KRAK 11 News at seventeen hundred hours, and we have got a full lineup for you tonight.
We begin with The World Desk — the president waves the green flag to start an IndyCar race on the streets of Washington as the nation's two hundred and fiftieth birthday celebration reaches the capital.
Then Criminal Intent — and this is our one hundred and forty-seventh Florida Man Tribute — back in July of this year, the Texas Rangers and Budweiser built a twelve-foot stein to break the world record for the largest glass of beer.
Six hundred gallons.
Six hundred gallons. After that, Animals — the video that has led our countdown for fourteen hours now has gained more than six million views in four days, and Windypaws posted it just four days ago.
And we close with A Quick Look at Sports — Lando Norris wins his second consecutive Grand Prix, then says McLaren still does not have the car he needs to fight for the championship.
The World Desk is up next — the president, the race, and the streets of Washington on a Sunday in August. We will be right back.
THE WORLD DESK
Good evening, Wexler County. I'm Chip Marlowe.
And I'm Deb Sarkissian. Seventeen hundred hours on a Sunday evening, and we have some good news out of Britain to start with.
I like starting with good news.
CrossCountry rail says it will restore full service tomorrow morning after twelve hours of major disruption. The company says their key priority now is getting as close to a normal schedule as possible by Monday morning rush hour.
CrossCountry operates between Scotland and England, correct?
Between Scotland and the south coast of England, through Birmingham and other major cities.
So it passes through Ireland as well.
It does not pass through Ireland, Chip.
I thought Scotland and Ireland were connected.
They are separated by the Irish Sea.
Well, good news for commuters nonetheless.
In London, police have arrested a thirty-four-year-old man on suspicion of murder following a fatal fire in Hounslow. One person died and eight others were injured.
The suspect was arrested while attempting to board a ferry to France. Metropolitan Police have not released further details pending investigation.
Hounslow is near Heathrow Airport.
It is a borough in west London, yes.
An update now on U.S.-Canada trade tensions. President Trump said this afternoon that Canada wants the economic benefits of statehood without the commitment.
This comes after trade talks collapsed yesterday. Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced retaliatory tariffs will take effect at midnight tonight, and accused the U.S. of starting a trade war.
Carney is the new Prime Minister, correct?
He took office in January.
And he used to run the Bank of Scotland.
The Bank of England and the Bank of Canada, Chip.
Close enough.
And from Washington, President Trump waved the green flag to start yesterday's IndyCar race on the streets of the capital. The race was the final event in a summer of celebrations marking the country's two hundred and fiftieth birthday.
The president took a ceremonial lap of the track before the race. No injuries were reported and the event concluded without incident.
That is a fast track for downtown Washington.
It is. They closed Constitution Avenue and Independence Avenue for the weekend.
If you are watching on YouTube, subscribing helps a station our size more than you might think.
Still ahead tonight on KRAK 11 News, we have a crime story out of Florida that is worth the wait.
You are going to want to hear this one.
Criminal Intent is next.
CRIMINAL INTENT
Good evening. I'm Chip Marlowe.
And I'm Deb Sarkissian. Time now for the KRAK 11 Blotter.
We have four Florida Man Tributes tonight, all from earlier this summer.
We are going to need a bigger category.
Back in July of this year, the Texas Rangers and Budweiser constructed a twelve-foot tall beer glass at Globe Life Field in Arlington. It held six hundred gallons.
The attempt was verified by Guinness World Records officials as the largest glass of beer ever assembled.
That brings our total to one hundred and forty-eight Florida Man Tributes in forty-three weeks.
Also in July, in Orange County California, a pickup truck lost its load of metal pipes during a crash. The unsecured cargo went through a sedan's rear window like spears.
Officers cited the driver for failure to secure the load. No one in the sedan was injured.
A passenger on a Ryanair flight was partially sucked out of a window earlier in July after the window broke at altitude. The CEO of Ryanair said a foreign object likely struck the aircraft.
The passenger was pulled back inside by crew and other passengers. He was treated at a hospital after the emergency landing.
And back in June of this year, a Catholic priest in his archdiocese was removed from his role as an exorcist after posting on Facebook that UFOs were linked to demon activity.
The archdiocese said the priest's comments were not consistent with Church teaching on the subject.
The priest remains in good standing and continues his other pastoral duties.
That is the Blotter.
And still ahead tonight on KRAK 11 News, we have Animals.
When Kindness Goes Both Ways is still leading the countdown after fourteen hours. Six million views in four days.
We will have the rest of the top five when we come back.
Stay with us.
ANIMALS
Time now for the Good News Desk.
Three videos tonight, ranked by how many views they gained in the last four days.
We count down from three.
Number three. A video posted by Benji Void sixteen days ago. It has gained two million eight hundred and twenty-seven thousand views in the last four days.
Number two. Fisherman Found This Heron Fighting For Its Life. Posted by Sassy on August twenty-first.
Three million five hundred and sixty-four thousand new views in four days.
And number one. When Kindness Goes Both Ways.
Posted by Windypaws on August twentieth. Six million one hundred and thirty-seven thousand new views in four days.
It has led our count for fourteen hours.
You watched it.
I did.
All three are on the KRAK 11 News Reel. The link is in the description.
Still ahead tonight, a quick look at sports. The Brewers are at sixty straight wins, and we have the tape from last night that nobody else is showing you.
We will be right back.
A QUICK LOOK AT SPORTS
A quick look at sports.
You have been looking forward to this all hour.
I love a good scoreboard, Deb.
Formula One at the Dutch Grand Prix. Lando Norris took the win for McLaren — his second consecutive victory this season — but told reporters after the race he doesn't have the car he needs to fight for a championship.
Two wins in a row and he still wants more from the car.
Coming up at the top of the hour — those Canadian retaliatory tariffs take effect at midnight tonight. We are staying on that story and we will have the latest for you.
That is the next KRAK 11 News, at the top of the hour. Thank you for watching.
