Rundown
KRAK 11 NEWS
Good morning. It's ten o'clock. You are watching KRAK 11 News, Fairmont. I'm Chip Marlowe.
And I'm Deb Sarkissian. Coming up this hour on KRAK 11 News: The World Desk, where a world record fell in Buenos Aires by nearly half a minute.
Criminal Intent — this one is a KRAK 11 Florida Man Tribute. A kiss cam, a tech CEO, and a company press release that has not aged well.
Animals — the video that has led our countdown for seven hours straight, and the view count is still climbing.
And A Quick Look at Sports, where a golf brand is apologizing for an advertisement nobody should have approved in the first place.
That is a full hour.
It is. Still ahead this morning on The World Desk — a half marathon time that rewrites the record book, and the twenty-nine seconds that made the difference.
THE WORLD DESK
Good morning, Wexler County. You are watching KRAK 11 News.
We have got a world record, a mystery in Thailand, and the end of a fifty-year wait for a film.
Also I have been practicing my geography.
Have you.
We begin this morning in Argentina, where Ethiopia's Yomif Kejelcha has broken the men's half marathon world record by twenty-nine seconds.
Kejelcha finished the World Athletics road race in Buenos Aires in fifty-six minutes and fifty-one seconds, shattering the previous mark.
Buenos Aires. That is in Brazil, and they run marathons at altitude there.
Argentina, and this was a half marathon at sea level.
Even more impressive.
In southern Thailand, investigators are working to determine who carried out dozens of coordinated arson attacks that hit the region overnight.
Thailand's military says the attacks were aimed at creating unrest. No group has claimed responsibility, and no casualties have been reported.
Do we know how many sites were hit?
Dozens, according to officials. They are still assessing the scope, but the coordination suggests planning.
We will stay on that.
And in film news, the late director Robin Hardy's sons have completed the final installment of his folk horror trilogy, more than fifty years after The Wicker Man premiered.
The film brings closure to the saga and to the Hardy family, who worked from their father's notes to finish the project he had planned before his death.
The Wicker Man is a British horror film from the nineteen sixties.
Nineteen seventy-three.
Right at the end of the sixties.
It is considered a landmark of folk horror, and the Hardy family says completing the trilogy was a labor of love.
That is a good story.
It is. Fifty years is a long time to wait for the final chapter.
Some of our viewers have been waiting that long for me to pronounce Buenos Aires correctly.
They have been very patient.
And we appreciate that patience. If you are watching this morning on YouTube, a subscription genuinely helps a newsroom our size keep doing what we do.
It costs nothing and it means the world to us.
Before we go to the break, let me tell you about something we have been looking into here at KRAK 11.
A case that started small, went cold, and has now taken a turn nobody saw coming.
We will have that for you when we come back on Criminal Intent.
Stay with us.
CRIMINAL INTENT
Good morning. This is the KRAK 11 Blotter.
We have four Florida Man Tributes this morning, and the first one involves a kiss cam, a Coldplay concert, and fourteen million people watching something go wrong.
That is a lot of witnesses.
It is. Also in the segment: a saw, a traffic argument, and HBO asking the public for help.
We begin with the kiss cam. Back in July of last year, a Coldplay concert in Los Angeles featured a moment that went instantly, catastrophically viral.
The camera landed on a tech CEO and his HR chief. They were seated together. They scrambled to hide.
This was months after he had praised her hiring in a company press release. The video was viewed fourteen million times in three days.
No charges were filed.
Second tribute: back in December 2024, a Florida man was arrested after police say he struck another man with a saw during an argument about wrong-way driving in Lee County.
Police say the victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect was charged with aggravated battery.
Third tribute: also in December 2024, dashcam video shows a Florida man crashing into a deputy's cruiser during a traffic stop. The suspect has a history of DUI and was arrested again.
Police allege he was intoxicated at the time of the crash.
Fourth and final tribute: back in February of last year, HBO announced they were seeking Florida Man stories for a television series. They asked the public to submit their own encounters.
The series is still in production.
Four tributes this morning. That brings KRAK 11 to one hundred and thirty-three Florida Man Tributes in forty-three weeks.
We are keeping count.
We are. And if you are watching on YouTube this morning, a subscription genuinely helps a station like ours. We notice every one.
It costs nothing and we are grateful you turned up.
Still ahead this morning: Animals. We have a video that has been viewed five point five million times, and it is leading the KRAK 11 countdown for the eighth straight hour.
It involves a horse, a rescue, and a moment that will stay with you.
That is next.
ANIMALS
Time now for the Good News Desk.
Three videos tonight, ranked by how many views they gained in the last four days.
We count them down from three.
Number three is Fisherman Found This Heron Fighting For Its Life. Posted by Sassy, two million two hundred fifty-six thousand new views in four days.
That one is up a spot from the last count.
Number two is a video YouTube files under Pets and Animals. Posted by Benji Void on the sixteenth. Two million seven hundred fourteen thousand new views.
And number one is When Kindness Goes Both Ways.
Posted by Windypaws on the twentieth. Five million five hundred seven thousand new views in the last four days.
That one has led our count for eight hours now.
All three are on the KRAK 11 News Reel. The link is in the description.
You have watched that top one quite a few times.
I have.
It is a good one.
Still ahead this morning, a quick look at sports. The Brewers are still winning, and we will tell you how many.
A QUICK LOOK AT SPORTS
A quick look at sports.
The Brewers are making history in Milwaukee. Fifty-four straight wins now.
That is a lot of baseball.
The Brewers beat the Cardinals seven to four last night. That makes it fifty-four straight wins, extending their franchise record.
The Cubs took the White Sox three to one at Wrigley. Pete Crow-Armstrong hit another walk-off RBI in the ninth. That is forty-two consecutive games.
And Yomif Kejelcha ran the half marathon in Buenos Aires in fifty-six minutes and fifty-one seconds. That breaks the world record by twenty-nine seconds.
Twenty-nine seconds is a demolition.
Coming up in a few minutes — the next KRAK 11 News, at the top of the hour. We will have more on the train disruption in the UK, now in its eleventh hour.
That is this hour. Thank you for being with us.
