Rundown
KRAK 11 NEWS
Good morning, Wexler County. It's nine o'clock and this is KRAK 11 News. I'm Chip Marlowe.
I'm Deb Sarkissian. Coming up this hour: the World Desk, where a sacked Ukrainian minister tells the BBC what questions Zelensky should answer about government corruption.
Criminal Intent, where a Florida man angry about losing power after Hurricane Milton allegedly shot and killed his own dog. That was back in October twenty twenty-four.
Animals, where the video that's led our countdown for six hours now has gained more than five million views in four days.
And a Quick Look at Sports, where Xavier Becerra is running for governor of California while facing questions about health insurance.
That's sports?
It's in the sports wire.
All right then. The World Desk is up first this morning, and a former Ukrainian defence minister is calling for elections to be held during wartime. That's coming up in just a moment.
Stay with us.
THE WORLD DESK
Good morning. Welcome back to KRAK 11 News.
We have got rail chaos in Britain, a sacked minister speaking out in Ukraine, and Erling Haaland has made a decision about his hair.
That last one has generated a surprising amount of commentary.
It has. We will get to it.
We begin in Britain, where CrossCountry rail is now in its tenth hour of shutdown. A power cut in Birmingham knocked out the company's operations center early this morning their time, and backup systems also failed.
That is virtually all of CrossCountry's services. They run between Scotland and the south of England.
Birmingham to Edinburgh. Birmingham to Penzance. The company says they may not restore service until late afternoon British time, which is several hours from now.
Penzance is in Cornwall.
It is. Southwest tip of England. Passengers have called this the worst-case scenario for rail travel in the UK.
In Ukraine, former defence minister Mykhailo Fedorov has called for wartime elections and says President Zelensky should be asked what he knew about corruption allegations within his government.
Fedorov was dismissed from his post last month. He served as Ukraine's defence minister for two years from the start of the invasion.
He told the BBC that elections should be held despite the war, which is a significant statement from someone who served in that government.
It is. Zelensky's office has not responded to the interview.
In southern Thailand, investigators are still working to identify who carried out dozens of coordinated arson attacks overnight. No group has claimed responsibility.
Thailand's military says the fires were designed to create unrest in the region. Authorities have increased patrols across the southern provinces this morning.
And in sports news from overseas, Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has revealed a new look for the season.
He posted a photo on social media showing a complete buzz cut. The caption says, quote, new season, new trim.
That is commitment to a fresh start.
It is very short. Fans are calling it aerodynamic.
Less wind resistance on the counterattack.
That may have been the thinking.
The Humanoid Games in Beijing continue through Wednesday. The boxing finals wrapped up overnight, and football and sprinting competitions are underway this morning Beijing time.
Teams from fourteen countries are competing. The sprinting finals are scheduled for later today their time.
I have watched the robot boxing video ten times since we got it.
I know you have.
They have excellent footwork.
They do. The jab is very crisp.
Better than some professionals.
That is probably true.

Still ahead this morning on KRAK 11 News, a story that took three months to investigate and involves evidence that surprised even the detectives working the case.
Criminal Intent is next.
CRIMINAL INTENT
Good morning, Wexler County. This is Criminal Intent.
We have now aired one hundred and thirty Florida Man Tributes in forty-three weeks.
That is more than three per week.
Florida is a reliable source.
Back in September 2024, a Marion County man was arrested for keeping alligators and several freshwater slider turtles on his property without a permit, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
The commission said the man kept the animals without proper authorization.
Separate incident. Also September 2024. Another Florida man was arrested after FWC officers found alligators in his backyard swimming pool.
Officers say they also found freshwater slider turtles at the property.
I admire the commitment to theme.
To what?
The turtles. You have already gone to the trouble of keeping alligators in your pool. Why not add turtles.
Back in August 2024, a Florida man was arrested after throwing spaghetti sauce at his mother during an argument at their home, according to the affidavit.
Police say the suspect then fled the scene and hid in nearby bushes.
Officers located the suspect and took him into custody.
The bushes were not adequate cover.
Back in October 2024, a Brevard County man fired his gun inside his house after Hurricane Milton left him without power. The sheriff says the man shot and killed his dog.
Sheriff Wayne Ivey said the man was allegedly firing recklessly. The dog died from its injuries.
Chip has now watched the robot boxing video eleven times.
It is remarkable footage.
Still ahead this morning, Animals. When Kindness Goes Both Ways has now gained five point four million views in four days.
The video has led our countdown for six hours.
You are watching KRAK 11 News.
ANIMALS
Time now for Animals.
The KRAK 11 animal countdown, which ranks by views gained, not total views. We have three this morning, counting down from number three.
You ready?
I am always ready.
Number three on the countdown is Woman Kicks Seal Off Her Boat, posted by guipascale. Two point two million new views in four days.
YouTube has it at number nine on their trending chart. Unchanged since our last count.
Number two, posted by Benji Void on the sixteenth. YouTube files it under Pets and Animals. Two point seven million new views in four days.
That one is at number fifteen on YouTube's trending chart. Five and a half million views in total.
And number one, for the sixth hour in a row, is When Kindness Goes Both Ways. Posted by Windypaws on the twentieth.
Five point four million new views in four days. Seven million total. Number one on our count and number one on YouTube's trending chart.
All three are on the KRAK 11 News Reel, and the link is in the description.
You have watched that robot boxing video eleven times.
I have.
Still ahead this morning, a quick look at sports. The Cubs have now won forty-one straight games on walk-off RBIs from Pete Crow-Armstrong, and we will tell you how that is even possible.
Stay with us.
A QUICK LOOK AT SPORTS
A quick look at sports.
Nine years in a row. You know what I am talking about.
I do not.
Magnus Carlsen defended his chess title at the Esports World Cup for the ninth straight year, beating Fabiano Caruana four and a half to three and a half.
That is dominance.
Pete Crow-Armstrong hit his forty-first consecutive walk-off RBI for the Cubs last night, extending his major league record. The Cubs beat the White Sox three to two.
The Brewers have now won fifty-three straight games. Fifty-three. That is a franchise record, a major league record, every league record.
And they play again tonight.
Coming up at the top of the hour on the next KRAK 11 News - we are following a developing story out of California as the governor's race gets under way.
That is next. Thank you for watching.
