KRAK 11 NEWS
Good afternoon, Wexler County. I am Chip Marlowe, this is Deb Sarkissian, and this is KRAK 11 News at one o'clock. We have a full hour coming up and we start with a robot in China that just ran faster than the fastest human being who has ever lived.
H-One beat Usain Bolt's world record at the World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing. The company that built it still has not released the official time. That is coming up on The World Desk.
We also have our ninety-sixth Florida Man Tribute this afternoon. Back in January a car crashed into the Metro Airport terminal in Detroit, and what happened next raised serious questions about security at a major American airport. Criminal Intent.
The sea urchin video has now led our animal countdown for forty-five consecutive hours. It picked up five million new views in three days and nobody here can explain what is happening in it.
I have watched it thirteen times.
And in sports, a hunt is on in Philadelphia for a man in a Chucky mask who chased a woman through the streets. Police have released a description and they are asking for the public's help. That is all coming up on KRAK 11 News.
We start at The World Desk.
THE WORLD DESK
Good afternoon. I'm Chip Marlowe.
And I'm Deb Sarkissian. We have developments this afternoon from Japan, an update on that robot, and a vigil in England that drew hundreds.
The robot that will not tell us its time.
Still withholding. We begin with Japan, where prosecutors say formal charges will be filed by the end of this week in the Mount Fuji abandonment case.
The father who left his seven-year-old son alone on the mountain when the boy became tired during a family hike is expected to face charges by Friday. Prosecutors confirmed the timeline this morning.
The boy was found safe by other climbers several hours after his father continued to the summit with his older son.
And we still do not have an official time for H-One.
The robot that beat Usain Bolt's hundred-meter record at the World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing. Honor, the company that built it, has still not released the official time from the weekend trials.
They confirmed only that H-One ran faster than Bolt's nine-point-five-eight-second world record. Which is extraordinary, but we would like to know by how much.
We would. Honor has not said when they plan to release the official time.
In England, more than two hundred people attended a vigil last night in Shoreham for the family who died in the water off the coast earlier this week.
West Sussex police released the names of the victims yesterday. A mother and her two children. The town gathered at the shoreline with flowers, candles, and a great many people who simply came to stand together.
In football, FIFA president Gianni Infantino has been asked to stay away from a youth tournament in the Dominican Republic this weekend.
Concacaf president Victor Montagliani made the request. No reason was given. The tournament begins Saturday.
The Dominican Republic is about twelve hundred miles north of FIFA headquarters in Switzerland.
Zürich is not FIFA headquarters, Chip. FIFA is headquartered in Zürich. Geneva is a different city. And the Dominican Republic is west.
West and north.
And Manchester United manager Michael Carrick is staying calm after his team lost to Hull City two to one at Old Trafford this weekend.
It was Hull's first win at Old Trafford in seventeen years. Carrick said after the match that his team, quote, 'didn't look ready.'
He also said he is not panicking. Hull is newly promoted to the Premier League this season.
If you are watching on YouTube, a subscription genuinely helps. We are a small station and we are glad you found us.
It costs you nothing and it means the world to us here at KRAK 11.
Still ahead this afternoon, Criminal Intent. A case that took ten years to solve, and the piece of evidence that finally broke it open.
Ten years. One photograph.
That is next on KRAK 11 News.
CRIMINAL INTENT
Good afternoon. I'm Chip Marlowe.
And I'm Deb Sarkissian. Welcome to the Blotter.
We are calling this the archive edition. Four stories from our Florida Man Tribute collection, all of them from the last year and a half.
Starting with the one that required a helicopter.
Back in June of last year, a pet zebra named Ed escaped in Tennessee one day after arriving in his new town. Authorities found him Sunday and brought him home by helicopter.
Video shows the operation. Ed appeared calm throughout.
They airlifted a zebra.
Back in March of this year, a meteor disintegrated over Saginaw Bay. NASA says at its peak, the fireball was forty times brighter than the planet Venus.
The space agency catalogued it as Event 20260324-013109.
That is not a name. That is a filing system.
Also back in March, a hairdresser in Detroit is accused of pulling a gun on a customer over a dispute about the cost of the service. Police say part of the confrontation was caught on video.
The suspect is now in Detroit police custody.
Back in January of this year, a car crashed into the Metro Airport terminal in Detroit. The driver's loved one told FOX 2 he was suffering from a mental health episode at the time.
The incident raised security concerns about airport access.
That brings KRAK 11's Florida Man Tribute count to ninety-seven over forty-three weeks.
And if you're watching on YouTube, we do read the comments. Leave us one and somebody here will answer it.
I answer at four in the morning.
Still ahead this afternoon, the sea urchin video has now led our animal countdown for forty-five consecutive hours. Chip has watched it thirteen times.
Animals, in a few minutes on KRAK 11 News.
ANIMALS
Time now for Animals.
This is the KRAK 11 animal countdown. Three videos ranked by how many views they gained in the last three days, not by total views.
We count down from three.
At number three, Baby Deer Trapped On A Freezing Pond. Posted by Sassy on the thirteenth of August. Three million one hundred thousand new views in three days.
Six straight days at number three.
It is a very good video.
At number two, When Kindness Goes Both Ways. Posted by Windypaws on the twentieth of August. Three million five hundred seventy-six thousand new views.
YouTube's own trending chart has that one at number one. We rank differently.
And at number one, the sea urchin video. Posted by Nick DiGiovanni on the nineteenth. Five million one hundred fourteen thousand new views in three days.
Forty-five consecutive hours at number one.
I have watched it thirteen times.
All three videos are on the KRAK 11 News Reel. The link is in the description.
Still ahead this afternoon on KRAK 11 News, a quick look at sports. The Brewers have done something nobody in baseball thought was possible.
We will be right back.
A QUICK LOOK AT SPORTS
A quick look at sports.
The Brewers won again.
I have run out of ways to say it.
You will find a way tomorrow.
The Milwaukee Brewers beat the Reds nine to two in Cincinnati. That is thirty-six straight wins and I am not tired of watching it happen.
Pete Crow-Armstrong hit his twenty-second consecutive walk-off RBI for the Cubs last night, beating the White Sox four to three. That is a major league record and it is not even close.
Magnus Carlsen defended his chess title at the Esports World Cup in Riyadh, beating Ian Nepomniachtchi four games to two. Carlsen takes home two hundred thousand dollars and his third consecutive title.
Roberto De Zerbi has won all seven of his first matches as Tottenham manager. They beat Leicester two to one this afternoon and they have not trailed once under him.
That is the KRAK 11 Scoreboard. We are back at the top of the hour with everything Wexler County needs to know this afternoon.
We will see you then.
