KRAK 11 NEWS
Good morning, Wexler County. This is KRAK 11 News at eleven o'clock. I am Chip Marlowe.
I am Deb Sarkissian. Coming up this hour: The World Desk, Criminal Intent, Animals, and A Quick Look at Sports.
We start at The World Desk, where a robot in China has just run faster than Usain Bolt's world record. Honor says the android clocked a time that beats the fastest human ever timed.
Also at The World Desk: archaeologists digging at Bunker Hill have uncovered musket balls and fortifications from the Revolutionary War. We will explain why this is a Florida Man Tribute.
The sea urchin video is still number one on the KRAK 11 animal countdown. Forty-three hours at the top now. I have watched it twelve times.
And in Sports: police stormed a Penn State fraternity house. One brother thought it was a prank. Thirteen people are now under arrest.
All of that coming up this morning on KRAK 11 News. The World Desk is next, and we start with the robot that just ran faster than the fastest man alive.
THE WORLD DESK
Good morning. This is THE WORLD DESK.
We have robots running faster than Usain Bolt, prosecutors filing charges in Japan, and tariffs taking effect in less than three hours.
I am sorry, robots running faster than who?
Usain Bolt. We will get to that.
We begin in China, where a robot competing at the World Humanoid Robot Games has run the hundred meters faster than Bolt's world record time of nine-point-five-eight seconds.
Bolt set that record in Beijing.
He did. Two thousand nine. The robot ran in Hangzhou, which is about eleven hundred kilometers south of Beijing.
Still China.
It is. Smartphone maker Honor released the video this morning. The android is about six feet tall and appears to be designed specifically for track events.
Do we know what the robot's time was?
Honor has not released the official time yet. They are saying only that it beat Bolt's record.
I would like to see that time.
In Japan, prosecutors confirmed this morning they are moving forward with formal charges against the father who left his seven-year-old son alone on Mount Fuji. Charges are expected by the end of the week.
The boy was found safe by hikers about ninety minutes after his father continued the climb without him.
He is recovering with family. The man had taken both of his sons on the hike. When the younger boy said he was too tired to continue, the father left him on the trail and kept going with his older brother.
On Mount Fuji.
The charge under review is child abandonment. If convicted, the father could face up to three years in prison under Japanese law.
We are following that.
The tariff story. With less than three hours to go, Canadian officials say retaliatory tariffs will take effect at noon Eastern time as scheduled. Trade talks broke down late last night without an agreement.
Canada is matching the new U.S. tariffs dollar for dollar.
A fifty percent levy on twenty billion dollars of Canadian imports. The Prime Minister's office says the decision was made after what they called a complete breakdown in negotiations late Thursday night.
Both governments say they remain open to further talks, but neither side has proposed a new meeting time.
We are watching that.
In England, the town of Shoreham held a vigil last night for a family who died after getting into difficulty in the water off the West Sussex coast earlier this week.
West Sussex is on the southern coast.
It is. About sixty miles south of London. The vigil was attended by several hundred people. Authorities have not released the names of the family pending notification of extended relatives.
Our thoughts are with them.
In South Africa, FIFA president Gianni Infantino has been asked to stay away from a youth football tournament in the Dominican Republic this weekend.
The Dominican Republic is in South America.
It's in the Caribbean. It shares the island of Hispaniola with Haiti.
Very close to South America.
About twelve hundred miles north. Concacaf president Victor Montagliani made the request in a letter sent Thursday. The tournament begins Saturday.
Has Infantino responded?
Not publicly. FIFA has not commented on the request.

We're glad you're here.
Coming up in just a few minutes, CRIMINAL INTENT.
A man in Nebraska is facing charges after attempting to return a rental car he had reported stolen three years ago. We have the details.
That is coming up.
CRIMINAL INTENT
Good morning. I am Chip Marlowe.
And I am Deb Sarkissian. This is KRAK 11 News.
We have four Florida Man Tributes this morning. That will bring us to ninety-four tributes in forty-three weeks.
It is the segment that will not quit.
Back in October of last year, a Detroit police officer appeared on a Zoom court hearing without pants. The officer was visible from the waist up. Prosecutors allege he was unaware his camera was positioned at an angle.
The video was seen around the world within forty-eight hours.
In November of last year, an Australian prisoner serving a life sentence for murder sued the state of Victoria. The complaint alleges the state violated his right to Australian culture by banning Vegemite in prisons.
Victoria banned Vegemite after officials discovered prisoners were using it to brew alcohol.
That is resourceful.
It is illegal.
Back in June of this year, archaeologists digging at Boston's Bunker Hill Monument uncovered musket balls, gun flints, and the remains of a Revolutionary War fortification. All of it dates to seventeen seventy-five.
The dig took three weeks.
And back in October of last year, San Saba High School in Texas played a football game on a field that was once a graveyard. The graves were relocated in the nineteen thirties, but headstones are still visible along the edge of the field.
The school calls it the Graveyard.
That is truth in advertising.
KRAK 11 has now aired ninety-four Florida Man Tributes in forty-three weeks.
We are proud of that number.
You are proud of that number.
Still ahead this morning — the sea urchin video has now led the KRAK 11 animal countdown for forty-three consecutive hours. We will tell you what viewers are saying about it when we get to Animals.
That is next.
ANIMALS
Time now for the good news desk.
Three videos today, counting down from three.
The sea urchin is still at number one.
Forty-three hours now.
Number three: Baby Deer Trapped On A Freezing Pond, posted by Sassy. Three million new views in the last three days.
Six straight days at number three.
That is a very patient deer.
Number two: When Kindness Goes Both Ways, posted by Windypaws. Three point two million new views in the last three days.
And number one on the KRAK 11 animal countdown: Sea Urchin, posted by Nick DiGiovanni. Five million new views in the last three days.
Forty-three consecutive hours at number one.
How many times have you watched it now?
Ten.
I have watched it twelve times.
I still do not know what is happening.
I am not entirely certain anyone does.
All three videos are on the KRAK 11 News Reel. The link is in the description.
Still ahead this morning: a quick look at sports, and the Cubs have done something nobody has seen before.
A QUICK LOOK AT SPORTS
A quick look at sports.
We have a very good night of baseball to report.
We do. And a robot that ran faster than Usain Bolt.
The Brewers beat the Reds last night, eight to three. That is thirty-five straight wins, extending their own franchise record.
Pete Crow-Armstrong did it again for the Cubs. Walk-off RBI in the ninth, Cubs over the White Sox, five to four. That is twenty-one consecutive games with a walk-off RBI.
Tottenham beat Arsenal three to one at the Emirates. Roberto De Zerbi has now won all six of his first matches as Spurs manager.
And at the World Humanoid Robot Games in China, a robot ran the hundred metres faster than Usain Bolt's world record. Honor has not released the official time.
I would like to see the time.
So would Usain Bolt. Coming up at the top of the hour on KRAK 11 News: breaking developments in the Mount Fuji abandonment case. Prosecutors say formal charges will be filed by week's end.
That is KRAK 11 News. Thank you for watching.
