Good morning. Two o'clock in Wexler County. This is KRAK 11 News.
This hour: The World Desk. A British rapper will face retrial in Perth after a jury deadlocked on rape charges.
Criminal Intent. Our thirty-ninth Florida Man Tribute in thirty-nine weeks. A baby alligator stolen from a Port Richey business back in May of last year.
That is specific record-keeping.
Animals. The sea urchin video still leads our countdown. It has gained three million new views in thirty-seven hours and held the top spot for ten hours straight.
And A Quick Look at Sports. Jurors in Las Vegas heard Keffe D describe who fired the shots that killed Tupac Shakur in nineteen ninety-six.
All of that still ahead on KRAK 11 News. The World Desk is next.
THE WORLD DESK
Good morning. I'm Chip Marlowe.
And I'm Deb Sarkissian. The transfer window closes in two weeks, and some clubs are running out of time to rebuild.
Aston Villa qualified for Europe and now they are selling the team that got them there.
Three players gone already, three more potentially on the way out. Manager Unai Emery has work to do.
The Premier League. Aston Villa has already sold three key players from the squad that qualified for Europe, and the club could lose three more before the window closes at the end of the month.
Manager Unai Emery is working to rebuild a side that finished fourth last year and earned a place in the Europa Conference League for the first time in over a decade.
They qualified for the Conference League.
The Europa Conference League, yes.
Which is European competition.
It is.
The financial pressures on clubs operating at that level are considerable, and Villa is navigating them in real time.
They are. The club has already brought in replacements for some positions, but with six potential departures total, the squad Emery fields this fall may look very different from the one that earned the European place.
Wales now, where a professional rugby player is speaking publicly about how the sport has helped her manage a diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder.
Donna Rose plays for Wales and told the BBC that rugby union has given her structure, purpose, and a way to channel the intensity that comes with the condition.
She described the disorder as her superpower, saying the traits that make daily life difficult also make her a more committed and focused athlete.
Rose has been open with teammates and coaches about her diagnosis, and says the support she has received within the sport has been part of what makes it possible for her to compete at the international level.
The full interview is on the BBC Sport website, and it is worth your time.
It is.
Australia. British rapper Yung Filly will face a retrial on rape charges after a jury could not reach a verdict on three counts.
The Perth jury last month cleared the YouTuber and recording artist of several sexual assault offenses, but it deadlocked on the remaining three charges.
Prosecutors have confirmed they will proceed to retrial on those three counts. No date has been set.
London now, where palace sources say the rift between Prince Harry and his brother William remains as deep as ever, despite reports of possible reconciliation.
The Prince of Wales is described by people close to him as in no mood to forgive or forget. The hurt, they say, lingers.
This comes as Prince Harry is expected to return to the United Kingdom later this year for a series of engagements, though no joint appearances with his brother are currently planned.
Are the princes based in London?
William is. Harry lives in California.
Which is a considerable distance.
It is.
Geography can complicate things.
In this case it is not the primary factor.
Still ahead this morning on KRAK Eleven News, Criminal Intent. A convicted fraudster posed as a flight attendant and flew free for months. We will tell you how she did it and how she got caught.
That is next.
CRIMINAL INTENT
Good morning. It is week forty of the KRAK 11 Florida Man Tribute.
We begin this morning with a story that involves a baby alligator, a locked door, and security footage that answered every question except the most important one.
Which was?
Why. Back in May of last year, Port Richey police say a man broke into a commercial property, walked past several valuable items, and stole a two-foot alligator named Peanut.
Police say.
The alligator was recovered. The man was not. Surveillance shows him carrying Peanut out in both arms like a diploma.
Also back in May of last year, Polk County deputies say a man shot his neighbor's pregnant cow multiple times after it wandered onto his property.
Deputies say the man had previously threatened to shoot any animal that entered his land. The cow survived. The man was charged with animal cruelty.
In Alabama last April, a Florida man was arrested on cocaine trafficking charges after deputies say they seized two kilograms during a traffic stop.
That is four point four pounds. Prosecutors allege.
And back in July of last year, a Florida man attempted to shoplift fifteen hundred dollars worth of merchandise from a Lowe's in Hernando County.
Deputies say he fled the store, spotted a UPS truck leaving the parking lot, and clung to the back of it as it drove away.
He was located a short time later with help from a citizen who witnessed the entire thing.
I have questions about the grip strength required.
I have questions about the plan.
The plan was to hold on. That was the whole plan.
Coming up in Animals this morning — the sea urchin video has now led the KRAK 11 countdown for ten hours straight, and the numbers from overnight are extraordinary.
Three million new views in thirty-seven hours. People cannot stop watching this thing.
We will have the full countdown in just a moment.
ANIMALS
Time now for the Good News Desk.
The sea urchin is still leading.
Ten hours now.
That is a very popular sea urchin.
The sea urchin video is still number one on the KRAK 11 animal countdown. Three million thirty thousand new views in the last thirty-seven hours. Four million three hundred forty-three thousand total. That is ten hours at the top.
The coyote and badger video is at number two. Two million six hundred sixty-two thousand new views. Three million two hundred twelve thousand total. YouTube has it at number three on their own trending chart.
That is the one where they hunt together.
You have watched it five times.
Six now.
At number three, a video posted by a channel called Lumi. No animal named in the title, but YouTube files it under Pets and Animals. Two million six hundred twenty-two thousand new views. Twelve million six hundred thirty-four thousand total. That is up one spot from yesterday.
A baby deer trapped on a freezing pond dropped one spot to number four. Two million six hundred five thousand new views. Fifteen million two hundred sixty-six thousand total. YouTube has it at number two.
And the bobcat that was stopping every car is still at number five. One million three hundred seven thousand new views. Six million four hundred fifty-nine thousand total.
Thirteen consecutive days at number five.
People really like that bobcat.
They do.
Still ahead this morning, A Quick Look At Sports. The Premier League kicked off a few hours ago and Arsenal got the winner in the eighty-third minute. We will have that score and the rest of the morning's results when we come back.
A QUICK LOOK AT SPORTS
A quick look at sports.
Three results worth your time this morning.
Good results.
The Cubs beat the White Sox three to two in eleven innings on Pete Crow-Armstrong's walk-off single. The twenty-two-year-old is the youngest Cub to hit a walk-off with a runner on third since nineteen sixty-nine.
That is very specific.
They keep track. Ohio State opens the college football season ranked number four in the Yahoo Sports preseason poll. The Buckeyes face Akron on Saturday and Michigan in November.
And Magnus Carlsen swept his opponent four games to zero to defend his chess title at the Esports World Cup. That is two years running.
Still ahead: prosecutors confirm a British rapper will face a retrial in Perth after a jury deadlocked on three counts. That is the next KRAK 11 News, at the top of the hour.
