KRAK 11 NEWS
Good evening. This is KRAK 11 News at the top of the hour, and this is what we have for you tonight.
The World Desk: police in east London are asking the public for help after a man was found shot dead in a car overnight. We'll have what they're releasing.
Criminal Intent: our thirty-third Florida Man Tribute. Back in March, researchers tracked Google searches to find the cities with the most practical jokesters in America. The top five includes two Florida cities.
Of course it does.
Animals: the sea urchin video is still at number one on the KRAK 11 countdown. It has now led for six hours straight and gained nearly three million views in the last thirty-three hours.
And A Quick Look at Sports: the FBI has seized the phone and laptop of former Congressman Eric Swalwell as part of a sexual misconduct investigation. He denies the accusations. We'll tell you what we know.
That is all still ahead on KRAK 11 News. The World Desk is next, and we start in London.
THE WORLD DESK
The World Desk.
Good evening. We have updates from London, the Middle East, and Pakistan tonight.
Four continents represented.
Three, but we'll get there.
We begin with a developing story from east London, where police have expanded their search for witnesses after a man was found shot dead in a car earlier this week.
Investigators say they are now looking for anyone who was in the area overnight and may have seen or heard something unusual. No arrests have been made and the victim's identity has not been released pending notification of family.
They're asking people to come forward.
They are. Even small details can help.
The Middle East now. Five European nations and Canada have issued a joint statement condemning Israel's West Bank settlement expansion, calling the plan a violation of international law.
The United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy and Canada all signed the statement. They say the settlements in what they call a strategically vital area threaten the possibility of a two-state solution.
That's the Gaza Strip they're talking about.
The West Bank, Chip. It's east of Jerusalem.
Right. Same general area.
Different territory entirely.
Iran now, and new reporting on how the country is responding to what the Trump administration calls its most comprehensive sanctions package yet.
Analysts say Iran has proved adept at finding workarounds to years of already punishing sanctions on its economy. The question now is whether this new round will have measurably different effects on oil exports and financial networks.
This is the Persian Gulf region.
It is. Iran sits on the northern coast.
Near Turkey.
Turkey is northwest. Iraq is directly west.
I was thinking of the Caspian.
That's north of Iran. You were right the first time about the Persian Gulf.
Pakistan. Former Prime Minister Imran Khan has been returned to Adiala jail after brief medical treatment at Shifa International Hospital. He was taken under heavy security on Thursday.
His party confirmed his return to jail today. Khan has been in custody since last year on charges he denies.
That's near India.
Pakistan shares a long border with India to the east and south.
And Afghanistan to the north.
Afghanistan is west. China is north.
You know a lot about geography.
I know where things are.
It's impressive.
Thank you, Chip.
If you're new to KRAK 11 and you're watching on YouTube, we'd appreciate a subscribe. It really does help a station this size keep the lights on.
And it doesn't cost you anything at all.
Still ahead tonight, Criminal Intent. A case out of New York involving an alleged plot against a state capitol building, and how the FBI says they stopped it before anyone was hurt.
That's next.
CRIMINAL INTENT
Good evening, Wexler County. I am Chip Marlowe.
And I am Deb Sarkissian. This is KRAK 11 News.
Tonight's Blotter, and I have a question for the desk. If you were smuggling something small and needed to conceal it, would you choose socks?
I would not choose socks.
We begin at Tokyo's Narita Airport where a suspect chose what I would call the worst possible smuggling container in modern history.
Customs officers discovered two hundred lizards stuffed inside twenty-two pairs of socks in the man's suitcase, according to reports.
Two hundred lizards. Twenty-two pairs of socks. That is nine lizards per sock, Deb.
The suspect was arrested at the airport. Authorities have not yet released his name.
Next item. Back in July of this year, a New York school district halted a sixty thousand dollar program to bring an AI-powered robot into the classroom.
The district cited privacy concerns and the manufacturer's ties to the adult entertainment industry.
The program has been paused pending a review.
And this is our thirty-fourth Florida Man Tribute in thirty-four weeks. Back in March of this year, a German tourist sued a New York taco restaurant for one hundred thousand dollars.
The plaintiff claims the green salsa at Los Tacos Number One was too spicy and caused health issues, according to multiple reports.
The restaurant has not commented publicly on the suit.
And also back in March, data derived from Google searches found the cities in the United States with the most practical jokesters.
The study analyzed search volume for prank-related terms in metro areas across the country.
We are not on the list.
We are serious people.
Still ahead tonight, Animals. And Deb, the sea urchin video is approaching seven hours at the top of the countdown.
It gained nearly three million views in the last day and a half.
We will have the updated numbers when we return.
ANIMALS
The Good News Desk.
I have watched the coyote and badger video three times now and I still cannot believe it is real.
They actually hunt together.
They have a partnership. An actual working partnership. The badger digs, the coyote runs, and they both eat.
The sea urchin video is still number one on the KRAK 11 animal countdown. It has led our count for six hours now and it gained two million eight hundred forty-one thousand new views in the last thirty-three hours.
Four million one hundred fifty-four thousand total views. Nick DiGiovanni posted it on the nineteenth of August.
The baby deer trapped on a freezing pond is number two. Two and a half million new views in thirty-three hours. Fifteen million total.
That video has been moving all day.
Number three is the coyote and badger video. Two point four million new views in the last thirty-three hours. YouTube has it at number three on their own trending chart.
And the bobcat that was stopping every car is still at number five. It has been in that spot for thirteen consecutive days.
One million one hundred seventy-eight thousand new views in thirty-three hours. Six point three million total. I have watched it fifteen times.
You said fourteen last time.
I watched it again after the World Desk.
Of course you did.
Still ahead tonight on KRAK 11 News, a quick look at sports. A walk-off win for the Cubs and the undisputed greatest of all time takes chess gold four to zero. That is next.
A QUICK LOOK AT SPORTS
A quick look at sports.
Four results tonight, and all of them close.
You have been waiting for this all day.
The Cubs beat the Reds tonight, six to three. Anthony Santander drove in two in the sixth and Chicago takes the series.
The Yankees took down the Blue Jays, nine to four. Aaron Judge went two for four with a home run. New York wins its fourth straight.
In the Premier League, Arsenal beat West Ham two to one. Bukayo Saka scored the winner in the eighty-third minute and the Gunners stay top of the table.
You say that like you knew where the table was.
I know where it is now.
Coming up at the top of the hour, we will have more on the FBI investigation we reported earlier, and Chip will explain why he thinks the bobcat video deserves a second look.
It has been overlooked for too long, Deb. Good night, Wexler County.
