KRAK 11 NEWS
Good evening, Wexler County. It is the top of the hour and this is KRAK 11 News. I am Chip Marlowe.
And I am Deb Sarkissian. Coming up this hour on KRAK 11 News: The World Desk, where five nations are calling out Israel over a West Bank settlement project.
Criminal Intent brings you our twenty-fourth Florida Man Tribute in twenty-four weeks, and this one involves a claw machine and a very small child.
That sounds like Tuesday.
Animals features a bobcat who has been at number five on the KRAK 11 animal countdown for eight consecutive days, and I have watched it ten times.
And A Quick Look at Sports, where the FBI has seized the phones and devices of former Congressman Eric Swalwell in a sexual misconduct investigation.
That is coming up in just a few minutes on KRAK 11 News. The World Desk is next, and five countries are standing together on this. Stay with us.
THE WORLD DESK
The World Desk.
Good evening.
We have a lot to get through tonight.
We do. Let's start overseas.
Five European nations and Canada issued a joint condemnation today of Israel's plan to expand settlements in the occupied West Bank.
The United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy and Canada described the project as strategically vital territory and said expansion would undermine prospects for a two-state solution.
That is the West Bank corridor near Jerusalem.
Near the Dead Sea.
Which is in the same region.
It is the same body of water.
The Treasury Department announced new sanctions on Iran today and said the goal is to collapse the regime in Tehran.
Secretary Bessent said the sanctions will squash Iran's economy and told allies they will need to decide whether they are with us or against us.
The sanctions target oil exports and financial institutions connected to Iran's nuclear program and regional military operations.
European Union officials said they are reviewing the list and will coordinate with Washington on implementation.
England's Harry Brook scored ninety-one runs at Headingley this afternoon on day two of the first Test against Pakistan.
Brook grew up in nearby Keighley and this is his fourth score above ninety at his home ground, but he still has not converted one to a century there.
That is in Yorkshire.
It is.
Just outside Manchester.
Thirty miles east.
Same county.
Different county.
England declared at four hundred and twelve for six.
Pakistan will resume tomorrow at nineteen without loss.
You have been watching that match all day.
I have it on in the office.
You watch cricket at work.
On the radio.
That makes more sense.
If you're watching on YouTube, we would appreciate a subscribe. It genuinely makes a difference for a newsroom this size.
Still ahead tonight, Criminal Intent.
We have new details on the Wexler County investigation and a development in a case that has been quiet for eighteen months.
That is next.
CRIMINAL INTENT
Time now for the KRAK 11 Blotter.
We have reached a milestone this evening.
You updated the spreadsheet.
I updated the spreadsheet. This is our twenty-fifth Florida Man Tribute in twenty-five weeks, and it comes to us from Missouri.
Back in May of this year, an off-duty police officer in St. Charles County was called upon to rescue a small child who had become trapped inside a claw machine at a bowling alley.
How does a person become trapped inside a claw machine?
The investigation is ongoing, Deb. What we know is that the officer was able to effect the rescue without breaking the glass, which suggests training, preparation, and a working knowledge of arcade game construction.
Or a key.
The child was unharmed. No charges were filed. The bowling alley has declined to comment.
And that is twenty-five Florida Man Tributes in twenty-five weeks.
Documentation matters, Deb.
It does.
Still ahead tonight on KRAK 11 News — we return to the bobcat video, which has now been at number five on our animal countdown for eight consecutive days and gained another nine hundred thousand views overnight.
I have watched it ten times.
We know.
ANIMALS is next.
ANIMALS
Time now for Animals.
The Good News Desk.
We have got a bobcat that will not move, a wildcat that can swim, and a sea turtle that just crossed the Atlantic.
All of them doing very well.
The bobcat video is holding steady at number five on the KRAK 11 animal countdown. Nine hundred fifty-eight thousand new views in the last twenty-six hours. Six million one hundred ten thousand total.
Eight consecutive days at number five. That is unchanged since the last count.
YouTube has it at fifteen on their trending chart. We have it at five on ours because we rank by how many views a video gains, not how many it has in total.
How many times have you watched it now?
Ten.
That is the correct number.
The animal just stands there in the middle of the road. Every car stops. Nobody honks. The bobcat looks at each driver individually and then walks away when it is satisfied.
That is a good animal.
Scotland has recorded its first confirmed sighting of a wildcat swimming. The animal was photographed crossing a river in the Cairngorms National Park by a conservation team working in the area.
Scottish wildcats are critically endangered. There are fewer than three hundred left in the wild, and conservationists say this is the first recorded instance of one swimming.
The photograph shows the wildcat midstream with its head above water, moving steadily toward the far bank. The team says the animal appeared calm and crossed without difficulty.
That is also a good animal.
An endangered sea turtle has completed a five-thousand-mile journey from Wales back to the Gulf of Mexico. The turtle, a juvenile Kemp's ridley, was found stranded on a Welsh beach in November.
It was rehabilitated at an aquarium in Anglesey before being flown to Texas for release. Kemp's ridley sea turtles are the most endangered sea turtle species in the world.
Biologists say the animal likely drifted across the Atlantic on ocean currents and would not have survived a second winter in cold water. It was released off the coast of Galveston last week.
The turtle has been tracked swimming south toward nesting grounds in Mexico.
Good.
Still ahead on KRAK 11 News - A Quick Look At Sports, and the fight that has been eight years in the making. Chip has questions about the venue.
I know where Manchester is.
That is coming up.
A QUICK LOOK AT SPORTS
A quick look at sports.
We have tennis, we have an award-winning dog, and we have results.
The dog is sports now?
The dog spent seventy-two days in the mountains. That is endurance.
Carlos Alcaraz is back. The defending champion returns to the U.S. Open after four months out with a wrist injury, and he will compete for the title starting next week.
And that golden retriever we mentioned won this year's Hambone Award for unusual pet insurance claims after spending seventy-two days lost in the mountains near Lake Tahoe.
Seventy-two days. That is a very tough dog.
Coming up at the top of the hour on KRAK 11 News, a major vaccine trial shows promise in stopping skin cancer from returning. We will have the details in just a few minutes.
From all of us here, have a good night.
