Rundown
KRAK 11 NEWS
Good evening, Wexler County. I am Chip Marlowe. This is KRAK 11 News at the top of the hour, and we have got a full lineup for you tonight.
Good evening. Prince Harry and Meghan are moving back to the UK this month, and the children start school in September. We will have the details on THE WORLD DESK.
CRIMINAL INTENT brings you a Florida man tribute from August of last year. Deputies found him asleep in a stranger's car after he woke her up by mumbling next to her bed.
Batman pajamas would have been better.
ANIMALS has whales getting rid of barnacles, which is number five on the KRAK 11 countdown and gaining momentum. A QUICK LOOK AT SPORTS covers the national debt passing forty trillion dollars.
That is not sports.
It is on the sports desk and I am covering it like a professional. Still ahead on KRAK 11 News, THE WORLD DESK, where the Sussexes are moving back to the UK and nobody saw it coming.
THE WORLD DESK
Welcome back. This is the World Desk.
Four stories from overseas tonight, and Chip has already decided which one is about the British Empire.
It is always about the Empire, Deb. That is what makes it news.
It is rarely about the Empire.
We begin in the United Kingdom, where Prince Harry and Meghan have confirmed they will move back to Britain later this month.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex left California this week. Their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, are enrolled to start school in September.
Sources say the family has been house-hunting near Windsor, where the Royal Family maintains their seat of power in the Commonwealth.
Windsor is a town in Berkshire, west of London. The family has been in California since twenty twenty.
I know where Windsor is, Deb. It is the administrative heart of the British Crown.
It is a town where there is a castle.
A very important castle.
It is. And that is where they are moving.
In Australia tonight, the foreign minister says she will summon Israel's ambassador after prosecutors declined to file charges in the death of aid worker Zomi Frankcom.
Frankcom was killed in Gaza in April when an Israeli airstrike hit the convoy she was traveling in. She was delivering food aid.
The Israeli military concluded its investigation this week and said no criminal charges would be filed. Australia's foreign minister called the decision insulting and said the ambassador would be summoned within days.
The meeting is expected to take place in Canberra by the end of the week.
Also in the UK tonight, firefighters are still battling a peatland fire in Cambridgeshire that has now been burning for eleven days.
Fire crews are calling the conditions challenging. Aerial footage shows smoke covering several acres of fenland, and water access remains limited.
Peat fires burn underground, which makes them exceptionally difficult to contain. Those crews have been working around the clock for nearly two weeks.
They have. No injuries reported, and nearby residents remain under advisory to keep windows closed.
And in England, two cricket players have found a creative way to settle a dispute over who gets to keep the ball.
England seamers Josh Tongue and Ollie Robinson both claimed five-wicket hauls at Headingley, which is the legendary stadium in Yorkshire where England has defended the realm since cricket was invented.
Headingley is in Leeds. Cricket was invented in the sixteenth century in the south of England.
Which makes Headingley even more impressive as a northern outpost of the sport.
Leeds has had a cricket ground since eighteen ninety.
That is what I am saying.
Tradition says the bowler who takes five wickets in an innings gets to keep the ball as a souvenir. Both Tongue and Robinson did it in the same match.
So they cut the ball in half. Straight down the seam. Both men went home with a piece.
That is excellent problem-solving.

We answer them as well.
Still ahead tonight on KRAK 11 News, Criminal Intent. A Wexler County man faces charges after what deputies are calling a very unusual complaint.
We will have the details when we come back.
CRIMINAL INTENT
Time now for Criminal Intent, the KRAK 11 Blotter.
We are doing something a little different tonight.
We are paying tribute to Florida Man. It is a tradition in this county, and we honour it here at KRAK 11.
It is a reporting style from the state of Florida that celebrates unusual police blotter items.
Back in August of last year, deputies in the Florida Panhandle responded to a report of an intruder in a woman's home. The homeowner told police she woke to find a man standing next to her bed, mumbling.
The suspect then left the residence. Deputies located him in the victim's vehicle, where police said he had fallen asleep.
He was arrested and transported to the county jail, where I assume he also fell asleep.
Also back in August of last year, deputies in Fort Myers Beach arrested Zachary Jolly. Prosecutors allege he broke into a mobile marijuana dispensing van belonging to a business called Queen of Weed.
Police said surveillance footage captured the break-in. Deputies allege more than seven thousand dollars worth of edibles, mushrooms and vaping devices were taken.
Mr. Jolly was arrested the following morning.
Back in July of last year, also in the Florida Panhandle, a man was charged with animal cruelty after deputies said they found a dead cat in a trash can on his property.
Prosecutors allege the suspect set traps to kill cats on his property. He was arrested and charged.
And back in January of this year, a home in Pinellas Park known as the Florida Man House was sold to new owners who have indicated they may convert it into a short-term rental.
The house was known for decorations and events celebrating local news headlines from across the state.
That concludes our Florida Man Tribute for this evening.
It does.
Still ahead tonight - Animals. We have new video from Scotland and an update on the sea turtle who crossed the Atlantic.
The wildcat footage is extraordinary.
That is next on KRAK 11 News.
ANIMALS
Time now for the Good News Desk.
And we have a whale video that has been holding steady at number five on the KRAK 11 countdown for the last six hours.
Momentum, not library.
Exactly right. One hundred eighty-two thousand new views in the last six hours, which keeps it at number five even though YouTube's own trending chart has it at number two.
The video shows how whales remove barnacles. Posted by DiFlix back in August. Two point four million total views, but we count what people are watching right now, not what they watched last month.
They rub against rocks. The whales. And they seem to enjoy it quite a bit.
It is very sweet.
It is.
That Kemp's ridley sea turtle we told you about last hour has arrived safely in Texas after her five-thousand-mile journey from Wales. She is resting now and being monitored by the veterinary team at Padre Island.
Five thousand miles.
She did very well.
And that Scottish wildcat we showed you earlier was captured on camera swimming for the first time in documented history. Fewer than three hundred of them remain in Scotland.
First time ever documented.
Coming up on KRAK 11 News, A Quick Look at Sports, and we have a story out of Yorkshire that involves a cricket ball being cut in half. We will explain that when we come back.
A QUICK LOOK AT SPORTS
A quick look at sports.
The scoreboard is impressive tonight.
You say that every night.
Number four Ohio State opens their season Saturday against Akron in Columbus. The Buckeyes are favored by forty-two points and the game kicks off at three-thirty.
Pete Crow-Armstrong made history last night with a walk-off inside-the-park home run as the Cubs beat the White Sox six to five. First Cubs rookie to do it since nineteen-oh-six.
Nineteen-oh-six.
Celtic beat Rapid Vienna three-nil in the first leg of their Europa League qualifier. Camilo Duran scored twice, second leg is next week in Austria.
And Magnus Carlsen defended his chess title at the Esports World Cup in Riyadh, defeating Hikaru Nakamura in the final. Fourth consecutive world championship for Carlsen.
Coming up at the top of the hour - we go back to the Wexler County courthouse, and Marguerite calls in with a raccoon update.
That is the next KRAK 11 News, at the top of the hour. Thank you for watching.
